Who doesn’t love Michael J Fox? The toast of Hollywood in the 80s he starred in a number classic roles through out his younger years, but perhaps none as iconic as Marty McFly in the Back To The Future trilogy.

Since then, Michael J Fox has become the defacto spokesperson for Parkinsons Disease which the actor was diagnosed with 1991 but didn’t go public with until 1998. He’s since started the Michael J Fox Foundation which is working towards finding a cure for the debilitating condition.

In more recent years Fox has played on some serious nostalgia to help drum up support for this organisation and help raise money. Recently the iconic Nike shoe from the Back To The Future movies was made in very limited supply and sold at charity auction to raise money for Parkinson’s research. More close to home, in Melbourne and Sydney recently the trilogy were shown back to back at a special theatre screening which also featured the Delorean time machine from the movies that guests could have a brief sit in.

Continuing on that theme, the actor decided to the play an oldie, well it’s an oldie where he comes from at the gala for his charity in New York. According to The Washington Post at the end of the evening Fox jumped up on stage and lead the band through a rendition of ‘Johnny B. Goode’, a homage to his performance in the movies at the ‘Enchantment Under The Seas’, including a shiny red Gibson ES-345 which he also used in the film.

Even more impressive is that although Fox mimed his performance in the movie but not at the gala as he’s since learned to play the guitar. You can see some fan shot footage below.
