The world of covers can be a dangerous business with most efforts ending up in the sin bin almost immediately upon release. There are a some exceptions to this pattern however, and some covers even end up outshining the original.

Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails and Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs recently released their cover of Led Zeppelin classic ‘Immigrant Song’, and while it surely isn’t in the same league as the original it is an amazing modernisation of a classic track.

Now British electro-rock duo The Big Pink are throwing their hat into the ring, covering classic Smashing Pumpkins track Mayonaise from Siamese Dream. The band have been covering the track for some time now at their live shows but it has been impossible to find a good quality recording anywhere on the interwebs. Until now.

The band recently performed a show at BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, and naturally the BBC were on hand to record their cover in crystal clear quality. The track has been made available to stream so have a listen to it below and let us know what you think.
