Fresh off the back of the release of their first single since 2004, veteran rockers Van Halen have released a preview of a second song off their new album A Different Kind Of Truth, due February 7th.

The first single, Tattoo, got mixed reactions from fans with some hailing the return of the band and others calling the attempt for the 60-something rockers to stay ‘hip’ cringeworthy.

Regardless, the single was release a fortnight ago in the US and had reached 67 on the Billboard charts, after the music video received over two million YouTube views in less than a week

The new clip, a 90-second preview of ‘Blood And Fire’ presents a portion of the new song, the basis of which comes from ‘Ripley’; an unreleased track from the soundtrack to the 1984 movie The Wild Life which was composed and performed by Eddie Van Halen.

Going back even further, ‘Ripley’ was originally a leftover song from the 1984 sessions. The name is clearly a reference to the fact it was written on a Ripley guitar where each string on the guitar can be sent to different sides of the speaker.

Fans will also be treated to another song off the record in the newest episode of television series CSI. Fans in Australia who are desperate to hear the new track should jump on the interwebs as who knows how long it will take before the episode reaches our television screens.
