One half of the creative genius behind The Mighty Boosh has made his music video directing debut with the brand new video from British band Tanlines for their single ‘All Of Me’.

Julian Barratt, who played Howard Moon on the popular British comedy show, said he had a particular look in mind when asked the make the music video.

“I just wanted a lot of odd people basically,” Barratt revealed to NME. “I didn’t want it to be in a particular time or place. The people are dressed slightly 1950s, but it looks like the 1970s. I want it to look like it’s being filmed in East Germany in 1981.”

There’s been a ton of speculation recently on the future of The Mighty Boosh. Late last year Barratt and his partner in Boosh Noel Fielding announced they had finished their debut album but were going to wait for the right time to release it.

“We’re just waiting for a time to put it out really,” Barratt said at the time. “I don’t know, when we get round to writing the next film or something we’ll tie it in and release it together.”

With Barratt currently working on projects such as this music video, Fielding has kept himself busy working on his new comedy show Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy. But Fielding too insists he hasn’t ditched Barratt or the Boosh.

“There’s always the idea of doing a Boosh film,” said Fielding recently. “I think ultimately the Boosh should be a film because we always do narrative and fantastical things. It’s hard to make a film out of a sitcom, but not if you travel to other worlds and have monsters and beasts and quests.”

In the meantime take a look at Barratt’s first crack at a music video. ‘All Of Me’ is from Tanlines’ debut LP Mixed Emotions.
