While the world waits for the Harlem femcee’s highly-anticipated debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste,which will probably not feature Lil’ Kim after the two had a public spat over Twitter. Azealia Banks has just dropped a new track in anticipation of the swathe of new music she has planned for 2012.
Jumanji (which may or may not be named after the 1995 kids flick) sees the 20-year-old rapstress spitting “real bitch all day/uptown, Broadway” over a beat produced by Scottish maverick Hudson Mohawke in collaboration with house DJ Nick Hook.
Jumanji is the first taste of a forthcoming mixtape dubbed Fantastic, which isn’t due until late winter, but Banks also has an EP called 1991 planned for a June release. All before the pint-sized rapper unleashes her debut, Broke With Expensive Taste, in September.
Banks, who is confirmed to appear in Australia for the first time at this year’s Splendour In The Grass, is already one of this year’s most hotly-tipped acts after only a handful of singles set the blogosphere alight. Namely, the minute-and-a-half long L8R and her potty-mouthed breakout single, 212.
In related news, Banks’ next musical appearance will be alongside fellow rappers Missy Elliott and Rye Rye on a remix of M.I.A.’s ‘Bad Girls,’ confirmed in passing by a tweet on M.I.A.’s twitter feed.
