The Mess Hall will play their one and only Melbourne show for 2012 on Saturday November 24th at the Northcote Social Club. Having last played in Melbourne in 2010, and with a recent one-off, blindingly great sold-out Sydney show under their whippet-thin belts, the show will provide a timely reminder of their quality.

The Mess Hall have released a series of critically acclaimed EP’s and albums since their formation quite some time back. Their album ‘The Devil’s Elbow’ won the 2007 Australian Music Prize. Following the release of their most recent album “For The Birds” in 2009, the band has spent the past couple of years concentrating on “other projects”.

Singer and guitarist Jed Kurzel won Feature Film Soundtrack of the Year for his acclaimed “Snowtown” score at the 2011 Screen Music Awards. He has also written the music for two series of “Spirited”, aired on Foxtel, and earlier this year completed his latest feature film soundtrack, an adaptation of the Christos Tsiolkas novel “Dead Europe” to be released late 2012.

Drummer Cec Condon formed the frankly incredible freakbeat collective Machete Moon with Myles Heskett, Chris Ross and Spod. In addition, he took a critical mark in the Sydney Community Cup, and can speak Arabic fluently.

The Mess Hall will reconvene to record a new album at some point. In the meantime, this is the only opportunity to see one the country’s finest live outfits perform in 2012.
