Dig (Directions In Groove) return to Melbourne for one night only with their new album, Clearlight (ABC Music) and lots of funky new grooves. The original line-up of Scott Saunders, Tim Rollinson, Alex Hewetson, Rick Robertson and Terepai Richmond is augmented with vocalist and co-writer Laura Stitt for one of their rare Melbourne appearances, this time at the Corner Hotel.

Dig (Directions In Groove) will be supported by Nicky Bomba and Friends in a performance that will feature a not-to-be-missed drum off with Nicky -vs- Terapai.

Dig (Directions In Groove) is a ground breaking, multi award winning band from Sydney who emerged from Sydney’s happening club scene in the early 90s. Beginning with a residency at Kinselas their dedicated following grew exponentially leading to a self financed recording which became the largest selling Australian EP of its day with the hit song Re-invent Yourself. Touring soon followed and Dig attracted large crowds.

After signing with Polygram (Universal) they released the album Deeper on ID in Australia and Verve Forecast internationally. The album debuted at #6 nationally and soon earned gold status with tracks such as The Favourite, 2-Way Dreamtime and the remix of Re-Invent Yourself – with all three played on high rotation on 2JJJ.

Remixes followed by DJ Krush, Mo’ Wax, Attica Blues and Paul Mac. Dig toured Asia, North America and Europe including the Montreux Jazz Festival and North Sea Festival, appearing at the Phoenix Festival on the same stage as Herbie Hancock, Bootsy Collins and The Roots. They also played in the Acid Jazz scene supporting Us3, Galliano, The Groove Collective, Corduroy, The Young Disciples and appearing at club and festival shows with Norman Jay and Giles Peterson.

Two more albums, Speakeasy and Curvystrasse followed with the band evolving to incorporate new grooves, putting drum’n’bass and trip hop into the mix.
