Niche Productions is thrilled to present the next tour from Melbourne’s Hiatus Kaiyote. After an incredible year that has had fans, journalists, radio types and DJs falling over themselves to support their debut, self-produced album Tawk Tomahawk, the four piece will hit the road before going in to hibernation over summer, save for select festival appearances.

Formed in mid -2011, the four core members of Hiatus Kaiyote are chief songwriter Nai Palm, Simon Mavin on keys, Paul Bender on laptop, bass and guitar, and Perrin Moss on drums. From a string of Melbourne residencies and club appearances, and the addition of three backup singers, the band is now able to perform as a seven piece, which will be revealed to the rest of Australia shortly.

Equal parts The Roots and Little Dragon, yet so much more, Hiatus Kaiyote seamlessly blend their influences (too many to list here) and are held together by the velvety vocals of Nai Palm, a natural performer who has talent and ability well beyond her twenty-three years. The band has previously performed alongside Taylor McFerrin (one of the first champions for the group), Warp’s Clark and Harmonic 313 and Brainfeeder’s Lapalux. They look soon to be far more than darlings of just the Beat and Hip Hop/Neo Soul scenes.

Tawk Takeout is the band’s remix album which will be hosted and given away for free download by tour sponsor Wax Poetics, the US based print and online music bible which has recently covered Sade, Flying Lotus, Lenny Kravitz and Dam Funk. Featured on the record are interpretations by Mark de Clive-Lowe, Shafiq Husayn (Sa-Ra Creative Partners), MFP, Anthony Valadez (KCRW) and many more.

With a wealth of online assets and the number of high profile fans around the world amassing by the day, don’t miss Hiatus Kaiyote’s next tour of the East Coast and Adelaide which is sure to be one of the last times to catch them in such intimate venues.
