In a pairing of innovative musical minds, Brisbane’s Tara Simmons and Sydney’s Pluto Jonze will join forces for a tri-state, co-headline tour to celebrate their most recent releases – Simmons with her second album It’s Not Like We’re Trying To Move Mountains (out today) and Jonze with his latest single ‘See What The Sun Sees’. The talented two will co-headline three very special shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne during October and November.

For Tara Simmons, this is her first tour in sometime and comes on the back of a summer saturation of …Mountains’ banging lead single ‘Be Gone’ and recent support slots with School of Seven Bells and Elizabeth Rose. The album itself is a departure of sorts for Tara, as she abandons her glitch, sample-driven and somewhat downtempo sound of old for a darker-edged, synth pop collection of songs. Second single ‘Where Do You Go’ leads proceedings right to the dancefloor while the new single and album opener ‘Weekend of Hearts’ is a slow-burning pop masterpiece.

Sydney-based popster Pluto Jonze channels childhood influences Bowie, The Beatles and Beck into his eclectic mini-symphonies. Dressed with samples, lush vocals, his signature theremin and backed by an explosive three-piece band, the live show is a little bit Tame Impala, a little bit Verve, entrancing throughout. His single ‘Plastic Bag In A Hurricane’, lifted from his debut self-titled EP, was a radio hit across summer and has been followed up by ‘See What The Sun Sees’, a song Pluto describes as “a psychedelic space calypso nursery rhyme”.
