M.I.A. Announces Summadayze 2013 Sideshows

Already announced for Summadayze around the country, M.I.A will perform a one-off headline show at The Enmore Theatre on Friday, January 4th 2013. On tour for the Summadayze / Summafieldayze festivals, this will mark her only Sydney performance.

M.I.A is an artist that needs little introduction. Named as one of the ten defining artists of the 2000’s decade by Rolling Stone and one of the world’s 100 most influential people by Time magazine, she has been nominated for an Academy Award (for her song O…Saya from the soundtrack to the Hollywood blockbuster, Slumdog Millionaire) and also for two Grammy awards (“Paper Planes” and “Swagga Like Us”).

M.I.A first appeared on the radar in 2005 with the debut of her first album, Arular. The album was praised by critics and fans alike and was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize that year.

It also gave us the first taste of her explosive musical style. As original as it is downright cool, M.I.A somehow manages to fuse hip-hop, electro and pop into something utterly spectacular.

In 2006, M.I.A became a household name, Skyrocketing into superstardom with her stellar second full-length release, Kala. Her smash hit single Paper Planes has sold over 3 million copies in the US alone!

Her latest single Bad Girls was produced by Danja (who has also lent his talented hand to the likes of Timbaland, Diddy, Madonna, Nelly Furtado and Pink) has already been a huge success here in Australia.
