We couldn’t resist featuring the leaked dirty ditty from Ke$ha featuring Iggy Pop with the very apt title ‘Dirty Love’, make up you own mind on this track… Next up local Melbourne hip hop artist Cozzabags, a new track from Brooklyn group Ex-Cops, and brand spanking new tracks from Adelaide’s finest Fire! Santa Rosa Fire, Sydney’s New Navy and Brisbane’s Gung Ho.

Ke$ha Feat. Iggy Pop – Dirty Love

“Don’t want your money, I’ve got my own, you’re not my daddy” sings Ke$ha followed by  a chorus of “I just want your dirty love all I need is to get in between your dirty sheets” sung with a high pitched rock n roll snarl. It’s then Iggy’s turn to reply in which he does with “Cockroaches do it in garbage cans; Rug merchants do it in Afghanistan, Santorum did it in a v-neck sweater; Pornos produce it, but wild child can do it better,” (whatever that means) with his trademark low throaty rock vocal. Can’t tell if this track is piss take or not, so make up your own mind; at the very least it’s fun!

Cozzabags – This Town

Charmingly ocker, mellow rock infused hip hop, lazy Sunday afternoons – Cozzabags. The well-travelled Melbournian dishes out his easy going rhymes in track This Town, featuring smooth beach bred guitar strumming with an equally as chill vocal tone. The memory plagued content of the lyrics features something for everyone- “Bouncers kick me out the bar when I’m not even drunk…” Stay tuned for his up and coming release 808s And Rock Greats, dropping December.

Ex-Cops – James

Originating from Brooklyn New York, the self described ‘tropical’ feel of Ex Cops is one that isn’t too hard to follow. Straight forward reverb blended instrumentation complements the soft spoken vocal melodies of the song ‘James’ in both the male and female singers. A gap is left with lack-luster dynamics that arguably don’t expose the song to it’s full potential but an overall relaxed 90’s pop feel is regularly implemented by Ex Cops and it’s pretty hard to deny its charm – especially in their latest single ‘James’ which although no track listing is out, will seemingly feature on their 2013 release True Hallucinations.

Fire! Santa Rosa Fire – Codebreaker

The hard-to-classify easy-to-listen-to Fire! Santa Rosa are back with a new track. Enlisting the help of renowned producer Gareth Parton (Foals, Fucked Up), the five-piece have definitely matured musically since their debut LP, 2010’s Sea Priest. This latest cut, ‘Codebreaker’ continues to showcase Caitlin Duff’s sweetly complacent vocals and features a catchy-as-hell guitar riff that’s bound to get stuck in your head for days at a time. Currently working on writing and recording more material, it seems the young Adelaide band are growing up and so is their music.

New Navy – Regular Town

This is probably the goddamn catchiest tune you’ll hear all summer long. The self proclaimed “indie-exotica” boys from New Navy are back with another upbeat, percussion heavy tune that’s bound to liven up even the dullest of days. With catchy lyrics (including the repeated refrain  “You’re from the underground/ I’m from another regular town”) sung by the sweet-vocalled Ben McInerny, the song tells the tale of a difficult to navigate love. Despite the less than ideal subject matter, it’s impossible for this tune not to get you dancing, or at the very least, tapping you feet emphatically.

Gung Ho – Strangers

Punchy bass and drums, jangly guitar and reverb drenched vocals are the order of the day for this indie trio from Brisbane. Gung Ho’s brand new single ‘Strangers’ will have the indie sweethearts swooning for sure, a nice introduction coming into the Australian summer with charming melodies and harmonies. Production is tight whilst retaining that all important DIY touch, another impressive release that hopefully leads to more material to sink our teeth into.
