Vance Joy is Melbourne based singer and songwriter James Keogh. Growing up on a diet of The Pogues, Paul Kelly and whatever else was playing on his parent’s record player, he first cut his musical teeth at open mike nights in and around Melbourne.

Word of his gift quickly spread, and it wasn’t long before he was headlining his own gigs, most recently selling out The Workers Club and The Toff in Town late last year.

His song comes from a place deep within, free from any affectation or contrivance. At times raw and strong, at others sleek and heavenly, his voice will wrap you in its grace and sweep you away; his honest, evocative lyrics will hold you there.

The coming weeks will see Vance Joy reveal the video for ‘From Afar’, the sublime first single from his forthcoming EP titled ‘God Loves You When You’re Dancing’. The coming months will see him warm the crowd for Of Monsters and Men at their Laneway sideshows and for Julia Stone on her Heavenly Sounds Tour, both supports a further testament to his spreading star.

With the new single and EP due for release shortly, a host of impressive local support slots and SXSW dates approaching, 2013 is already shaping up to one incredible year for this wonderful artist.
