The regional town of Deniliquin in New South Wales is being graced with the first ever Deni Blues & Roots Festival at the end of March, 2013, and with a lineup borrowing from the Easter Weekend’s Byron Bay Bluesfest, and the backing of a new partnership between promoters Michael Chugg and Rob Potts, it’s set to be quite the birthing.

Guitar virtuoso Santana and heritage rock act the Steve Miller Band are topping a lineup that includes Bonnie Raitt, Chris Isaak, Tony Joe White, Jimmy Cliff, and more, and now there’s even more reason to make it down to the two-day camping festival with a special announcement from organisers that camping costs will be made free for ticket holders to the event.

Dropping the “Special Valentine’s Day” news on their website, the news is  “goodwill gesture” for patrons who have already purchased the $75 camping tickets, who will have their money refunded, starting this week. The statement reads:

If you purchased a $75.00 campsite ticket through the denibluesfestival.com website you will be refunded your money into your bank accounts or credit cards commencing on Monday 4th February 2013. If you purchased your tickets through Ticketek you will also be refunded your money commencing on Monday 4th February 2013. Each person (patron) who purchased a $75.00 campsite ticket will be notified personally of this refund by letter.

It’s a sign that the inaugural Deni Blues & Roots Festival is selling strongly, with a variety of premium ticket options also available for campers looking for a more grandiloquent location.

Speaking of the new free camping promotion, promoter Michael Chugg was enthusiastic about the festival’s launch. “Deni’s got such a great vibe surrounding it and it’s going to be a mainstay in the event calendar,” he says. “We want to make sure that people can come and check out this great festival and see what it’s all about – and what better way than with a free place to stay!”

Chugg Entertainment partnered with Rob Potts Entertainment Edge to collaborate with the organisers at the Deniliquin Ute Muster site to put on the new music festival at the regional centre.

“To make a successful festival you need a great site, access to lots of people, world class staging and infrastructure and a killer line-up of great international and local talent,” said Rob Potts at the announcement of the festival.

“Having worked on a number of great festivals over the years that are staged around the Easter long weekend, we know that this is the perfect time of year for people to get away from their busy lives for a few days and enjoy some great live music,” added Chugg.
