Missed out on tickets to Soundwave in Sydney? You may be in luck.

Due to the new age restrictions imposed by the Sydney Showgrounds on Soundwave Festival, around 700 tickets will be released for general sale to the previously sold out festival following a flood of refunds.

The news was delivered by Soundwave boss AJ MAddah through his favourite method of communication: Twitter.

The tickets will be made available on Thursday for sale, and were originally the tickets of fans under the age of 15 hoping to catch their first glimpse of the some of the world’s biggest hardcore and metal bands including Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink 182.

The new MA15+ age restrictions were sprung on the festival just a few weeks ago, with organisers forced to deliver the grim news for young metal heads.

“Soundwave 2013 Sydney can no longer accommodate patrons who are under the age of 15,” organisers said in January. “This supersedes the previous policy, which permitted patrons under the age of 15 to attend the event with a responsible adult. If you are a ticket holder aged 14 or under you are able to obtain a refund”.

Soundwave Festival boss and serial tweeter AJ Maddah told fans that the new age restrictions applies only to Sydney, and were to do with the policies of Olympic Park, indicating that “the venue has changed its licensing rules.”

The Soundwave statement urges all punters to bring photo ID, but especially for those on the cusp of the new restrictions, those “born 25th February 1997 – 24th February 1998.” All attendees under the age of 18 are still required to bring a ‘responsible adult’ or guardian to the festival, and must also provide photo ID and mobile contact numbers to “be entered into the Olympic Park Venue Management System.

In other Soundwave-related news, following deathcore band Dr Acula pulling out of the hard and heavy touring festival citing their imminent break up, another band have pulled out of the Soundwave 2013 bill just weeks from the event, but there’ll be no love lost for the dismissal of electro-punk duo Blood On The Dance Floor from AJ Maddah who is “super pleased” to be rid of the group.

In another hilarious flurry of tweets, the outspoken Soundwave boss revealed he had only booked the band on the bill because he was drunk, before turning on fans of the band themselves who he described in a less than favourable fashion.

The 700 extra tickets will be made available on Thursday through the usual ticket outlets.
