With the sparkling edges of the Labour Day weekend just on the horizon, so too comes more news from Aunty Meredith regarding 2013’s Golden Plains Lucky 7 for this honey-drippin’ Autumn.

With the wonderfully eclectic lineup all locked in a ready, bringing in domestic heroes, international delights (and even beaming in the cosmic slop of George Clinton), now Aunty Meredith has ordained the playing times for the acts and artists gracing Golden Plains Lucky 7, releasing the playing times.

Held in the wonderful sounds and surrounds of the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre across two days, organisers have worked hard to roll out in “four-dimensional glory” the acts on the one stage so that you don’t have to miss a single note.

As usual there’s plenty of time on Saturday to get in and set up in the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre before the traditional Opening Ceremony happens at 2pm. The Space-Time Continuum kicks in thereafter and does its thing for two days and two nights before finally setting us all back down sometime Monday.

Unfortunately Sixfthick have advised they will be unable to play Golden Plains due to illness (and we wish them all the best for a full recovery), but Aunty Meredith has dipped into her bag of tricks and pulled out the dual-drumming, all-rocking Melbourne collective Money For Rope as a bona-fide replacement.

Money For Rope have the honour of being the first band on at The ‘Sup post-Opening Ceremony, with the Saturday featuring a swathe of electronically, experimental artists (Opossom, Wild Nothing, No Zu), a little Crete music (Psarandosis), and some national treasury (Barry Dickins) before dinner time brings The Tallest Man On Earth’s lilting songsmithery.

Held in the wonderful sounds and surrounds of the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre across two days… on stage so you don’t miss a single note.

A little housekeeping, then its the one and only Chan Marshall aka Cat Power bringing her one of a kind performance, then fuzz rock elders Dinosaur Jr will work their wooly guitar magic into the beautiful, picturesque Amphitheatre.

International in flavour, cosmopolitan in style – that’s Client Liaison, producers of perhaps the Most Aussie Video Ever, and the pair have scored a key midnight slot, enviable for a band still in the ever-green of their career, but one one not to miss. The am hours will belong to Candian electropop duo Purity Ring, the nocturnal beats of Sydney production wunderkind Flume, and late night theatrics from Post Percy and some ‘Silence Is Golden.’

Sunday eases in with a little Bushwalking, some dolewave from Dick Diver then a midday slot from the king of Ethiopian jazz pop, Mulatu Astatke. Then there’s a winding mix that takes in funk (Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, Melbourne Ska Orchestra), long dormant rock acts (Redd Kross, The Mark Of Cain), some taste-making chillwave pop (Toro Y Moi) and a reliable set from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Keb Darge will warm the crowds before George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic have the privilege of burning them down for two funky, freaky hours before Naysayer and Gilsun take over to keep the dance party going. The early hours will keep the feet shuffling and groovy bones shaking with Bristol’s Julio Bashmore, a whistlestop set from Zanzibar Chanel, and AM euphoria with MoodyMann.

If that sounds like 48 hours of bliss, then you better hope you’re holding one of the sold out tickets to the Lucky 7, which completely cleared out in record time back in November.

Tickets purchased Online or in the Ballot have recently been sent out and should be with their owners now.
