Spread over 30 venues during May 16th – 18th, it’s now less than two months until The Great Escape takes over Brighton. Now in its eighth year, Europe’s answer to SXSW today announces the latest helping of the best emerging talent from across the world, adding over 50 artists to an outstanding line-up that has already left music fans reeling.

Giddying audiences with their own-brand of shambolic pop is Mercury nominated, frenetic four-piece EVERYTHING EVERYTHING*. Having already performed at The Great Escape in 2010, the Manchester band will make a triumphant return to storm the Brighton Dome in 2013, the festival’s biggest stage.
This year’s festival also welcomes back KLAXONS, who will perform long-awaited and anticipated new material. Debuting in 2005, winning a Mercury Prize in 2007 and going from nu-rave to nu-metal, TGE festival-goers will be some of the first to hear the third regeneration of one of the UK’s most forward thinking bands.

Joining a line-up studded proudly with artists returning to the festival – showcasing The Great Escape’s knack of picking acts with promising futures – is the latest installment of the freshest sounds around. Artists added to 2013 programme today include pop royalty-in-waiting A*M*E, 21st century soul singer LULU JAMES, beat-breaking ‘new’ old-school champions RDGRLGRN, post-hardcore outfit THE BLACKOUT and the effortlessly sprightly GIRLS NAMES. Also heading to the seaside this May is Parisian alt-electro trio WE WERE EVERGREEN, Camden alt-indie quartet TRIBES, psychedelic songstress MARY EPWORTH and raw garage-rock duo DEAP VALLY, who will blow audiences away and amplifiers out.

This year, The Great Escape has partnered with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute to make Poland its lead international focus to present ‘Don’t Panic! We’re From Poland’. The final wave of artists swapping the Baltic Sea for the English Channel is THE KDMS, PICTORAL CANDI, TEIELTE and ENCHANTED HUNTERS who join BRODKA, DANIEL DRUMZ, KAMP and TRES B, who will perform to over 16,000 varied and influential attendees from over 25 different countries.

The new acts announced today are as follows: A*M*E / ALIMENT / AIN’T NO LOVE / ANDREYA TRIANA / ANUSHKA / BEAU / BLACK ATLANTIC / BALTHAZAR / BIG DEAL / BO BRUCE / COACH STATION REUNION / CHEATAHS / CHLOE HOWL / CHRIS COHEN /  DEAP VALLY / EAUX / EWERT AND THE TWO DRAGONS / ENCHANTED HUNTERS / ENDIAN / EVELINN TROUBLE / EVERYTHING EVERYTHING** / GIRLS NAMES  / GLASS ANIMALS / HONNINGBARNA / JENNY HVAL / JAKE ISAAC / JC SATAN / KLAXONS  / LAST NIGHT IN PARIS / LULU JAMES / L’HEREU ESCAMPA / MARK E  / MARY EPWORTH  / MOXIE / NADINE SHAH / ODDISEE / PALM READER / PETER KERNEL / PS I LOVE YOU / PICTORIAL CANDI / RDGLDGRN / ROOSEVELT / SEAN NICHOLAS SAVAGE / SEGA BODEGA / SAINT RAYMOND / SONS AND LOVERS / SPENCER  / THE BLACKOUT / THE KDMS / THE PHYSICS HOUSE BAND / THE RUMOUR SAID FIRE / TREVINO / TRIBES / WE WERE EVERGREEN / THE NEXTMEN / VELVET TWO STRIPES / ZA!

Whilst part of the excitement of The Great Escape is coming across the next-big-thing in the back of a coffee shop on the seafront you never knew existed (as TGE-goers in 2007 did with a little-known singer-songwriter called Adele), with the prospect of 350 acts performing over three days, a bit of forward planning may be in order. Although the full schedule of the 2013 festival will not be announced until April, here’s a first look at highlights of the line-up so far over the corresponding days:
