Whether its synchronised dancing on treadmills, constructing a Rube Goldberg Machine, or racing around in coloured jumpsuits in a Superbowl commercial for the Chevy Sonic, the career of American rock band OK Go is as much about their distinctive music videos as it is their music.

The four piece always seem to have good ideas when it comes to producing video clips for their songs, but now they’re opening up the think tank to their creative fanbase with a new competition that’s offering filmmakers the chance to make their next music video in the Saatchi & Saatchi Music Video Challenge.

As hosted on the Talent House website, OK Go are inviting creatives who can demonstrate talent and innovative techniques worthy enough of the next entry in their esteemed videography.

The competition is a joint effort between London music video/live event collective BUG, and Saatchi & Saatchi, best known as the organisers behind the New Directors’ Showcase, screened annually at The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity since 1991. The four piece always seem to have good ideas when it comes to producing video clips for their songs, but now they’re opening up the think tank to their creative fanbase.

The quartet’s new single, ‘I’m Not Through’ (which you can hear at the bottom) taken from their upcoming fourth studio album, is the soundtrack to budding competition entrants’ videos, and aside from a few official rules and regulations – that’s it; simply make an amazing video and submit it to the band.

As the band cheekily point out on the Talent House competition page. “A special note to new directors: the last two OK Go videos played at Cannes won 7 Lions combined and one of them debuted on the Super Bowl. So, no pressure.”

A judging panel, featuring OK Go singer/guitarist Damian Kulash will then select 10 finalists from the submissions received and highlighted at the end of May, the second phase will ba the announcement of the Grand Prize Winner on June 20th.

The crowning entrant will not only receive major bragging rights, but also will have their winning entry screened at the 2013 Saatchi & Saatchi New Director’s Showcase in Cannes, as part of the Lions International Festival of Creativity in June this year. As well as appearing on the Talent House and OK Go website.

There is also a People’s Choice Winner which be selected by fan votes and social media love for a runner-up video, which will also screen on Talent House and OK Go’s channels, as well as a ‘fan pack’ including OK Go music, merch, and tickets to a headline concert from the band.

Head to Talent House for more details about submitting your OK Go music video. Submissions to the Saatchi & Saatchi Music Video Challenge close 10am PST May 7th 2013.
