We are a 7 piece punk string band that formed in the inner western suburbs of Sydney. We play a traditional style of music with traditional instruments in a not very traditional manner. People have called us party country or punk country but in essence we are just another rock n roll group. There are many songwriters in the band so each song varies with unique colours and flavours.  We are currently touring with The Snowdroppers and are planning to do a nation wide tour in a few months time. Album pre production is currently underway and an album is looking good for the not too distant future. We have the most fun getting loose onstage, talking smack and playing festivals.

It would be wrong not to ask, where did the name Little Bastard come from?

The car the James Dean died in was called ‘little bastard’. I think it really embodies the future of the band, get heaps of speed then crash and burn.  There is some mythology surrounding the car, apparently it was cursed.

You must answer this question honestly. What and where was the first gig you went to?

First gig I went to was Queens of the Stone Age at the Horden Pavilion, I think I was 15. Either that or blink 182? Can’t remember to be honest.

‘Fess up. What records have you stolen from your parent’s record collection and why?

Most of my dads Zeppelin….why? because it’s fucking mad! Creedence albums, Nirvana, lots and lots of Beatles albums.

You recently played Boogie #7 (great set by the way) and you’re playing Gum Ball Festival at the end of April. Do you play different sets to what you would play in an enclosed venue environment?

We have an array of songs at the moment so sometimes we switch it up. Usually Johnny just scrawls the set list on napkin before we play. We recently had to learn a lot of covers for the campfire set at Boogie so we whip a few of them out once in a while. Generally we have a standard set that we are happy with and we just try and get it is tight as it can be.

Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage?

Depending on the importance of the show the ritual is usually get as fucked as possible (anyway possible) before we play.  The hard part is keeping it together after this most important ritual.

If you could curate your own festival, where would it be, who would be on the bill, how many people would you let in and what features would it have?

I think a festival set up on a huge lake would be awesome. Floating stages and heaps of boats for the punters to cruise around on. Typical festival food just cheaper. You could have heaps of water attractions like jet skis and wake boarding. I would put all the local bands I know on the bill. Pigs on the spit, endless free beer, crazy costumes.

Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living artist from anywhere in the world, who would you most like to collaborate with?

John fogerty because he has the best rock n roll voice ever and I reckon he would be down to party. Also Katie Perry because she is a babe and we’re in love but she doesn’t know it yet.

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

A badass cowboy riding through the desert robbing trains and smoking ciggies.
