‘Riptide’ is the catchy second single and track from the live performance series of Vance Joy’s debut EP ‘God Loves You When You’re Dancing’. (Keep an eye out for the third live performance of ‘Play With Fire’ next week).

“I had a bunch of ingredients rolling around my head at the time this song came together.  I went on a family holiday to Queenscliff in 1995, we stayed at this run down motel called riptide, so that must have made some kind of impression. I had the “dentists and the dark” bit in my head since 2008, then in 2012 I was playing around on the uke and came across the chorus melody. I finished it over the next two days…”  is Vance’s recollection of how the song came together.
