Brooklyn’s indie favourites Beach Fossils are globally respected and revered, but the band have yet to make it to their Australian fans yet. Despite having a Down Under tour prepped and ready for October of 2012, the quartet were forced to postpone at the last minute, with frontman Dustin Payseur apologising to Aussie fans with the message:

“We hate to postpone the tour because we know our fans have been patient and excited. It always sucks to cancel a tour, we’ve been excited about it just as much. Travelling across the world playing music is a beautiful and surreal experience. We promise to be out there soon, we’ll make it up to you!”

Now, true to their word, Beach Fossils have made good on their promise and headed to Australia for two headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this September, ready to perform for their hordes of followers who have been clamouring for a visit to the south from the Brooklyn band.

Beginning in 2009 as Payseur’s solo project, Beach Fossils soon blossomed into a full-blown band, coalescing around Payseur’s dreamy washes, shoegaze attitude, and plaintive sense of songcraft. In 2010 they released their eponymous debut album on Captured Tracks, home to fellow indie royalty like DIIV and Wild Nothing.

Off the strength of Beach Fossils they soon garnered buzz and attention for their engaging live show and captivating music, having long since ditched their bedroom aspirations for a fully realised, three dimensional sonic aesthethic.

Earlier this year, following a bevy of singles and EPs, they further built on their considerable promise and acclaim with the release of sophomore long-player Clash The Truth – released again on Captured Tracks (and available in Aus through Inertia) – meaning that when Beach Fossils arrive on Australian shores for the first time they’ll be armed not only with the dreamy back catalogue which first dragged them into the global spotlight, but also with an arsenal of cutting-edge new material that has been setting the blogosphere alight throughout the early part of 2013.
