In amongst the 77-strong lineup of Splendour In The Grass 2013 and its equally impressive lineup of Australian bands and artists was someone who the collective music world hasn’t heard of in nearly three years, singer-songwriter Lawrence Greenwood – better known as Whitley.

Whitley went on ‘indefinite hiatus’ in 2010 despite the critical acclaimed that followed in the wake of his second album Go Forth, Find Mammoth in 2009, but this year marks a big return from the singer-songwriter, with the announcement of a new headline tour to suppor the unveiling of brand new studio album, Even The Stars Are A Mess, due next Monday 27th May.

Heralding Whitley’s comeback album will be lead single, ‘My Heart Is Not A Machine’, which lands next Monday 27th May, which just so happens to be when tickets go on sale for a new headline tour showcasing material from the new studio album along with favourites from the Whitley back catalogue, including 2009 debut The Submarine and the aforementioned Go Forth, Find Mammoth.

Whitley will play four special shows in Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne – joined by folk songbird Esther Holt – before heading to Byron Bay for the sold out Splendour In The Grass festival.

Greenwood was also at the centre of a candid in-transit chat with none other than the Bedroom Philospher himself, Justin Heazlewood, taking about his return to music and the new album, albeit in a rather ‘Whitley-like’ fashion. View the interview and Whitley’s tour dates below.
