Building off the success of her packed-out single launch at The Workers Club, for Häxan – the second single from her forthcoming solo debut – Melbourne songstress Ella Hooper has wrangled a host of great local talent to join her for a June residency at The Toff In Town, playing each Tuesday with special guests, Texture Like Sun, for a month-long run.
Each Tuesday in June, Hooper will perform a host of songs from her forthcoming solo album In Tongues, including lead single ‘Low High‘ and the darker, twists and turns of Häxan
“A warming winter residency is the perfect way to introduce people to my solo album material, as it’s smoky and sultry and goes well with whisky,” laughs Ella. Excited about sharing the stage with Texture Like Sun, Ella goes on to say, “they’re super talented, so very good at what they do and I think we compliment each other in a really nice harmonious way… it’s going to make Tuesday the highlight of every week!”
Texture Like Sun have been building of their self-titled 2012 EP, which scored an 8.5/10 from our Tone Deaf reviewer, who proclaimed “the Melbourne six-piece have managed to create a smooth, aching form on indie folk that will leave you asking for more.”
Ella Hooper and Texture Like Sun will be joined by the likes of Roscoe James Irwin, Ariela Jacobs, Krista Polvere, and Gena Rose Bruce.
