Over the last twelve months, Australian fans have fallen for Of Monsters and Men. Garnering sell out shows, critical accolades, hordes of fans and platinum records, the love affair is showing no signs of cooling down.

Following the announcement of their appearance on the now sold-out Splendour In The Grass 2013 lineup, the Icelandic folk collective announced a headline series of sideshows, touring through Australia in July. Promoters Chugg Entertainment can now confirm that the tour is almost completely sold out, with ticket allocation exhausted in Sydney, with Melbourne’s second date not far behind.

Due to overwhelming demand, a third and final show has been announced for Sydney fans, confirmed for Wednesday 31st July at the intimate surroundings of Metro Theatre, following their two sold-out shows at the Enmore on Monday and Tuesday night. Tickets for the new show go on sale this Wednesday 12th June at 9am and are likely to be snapped up quicky.

The Australian response to the internationally renowned band has been ever-growing, having scored the penultimate spot on Triple J’s Hottest 100 this year, as well as landing the #1 spot on the ARIA Album Charts for their debut album,  My Head Is An Animal

The Icelandic band wowed audiences with their appearance on the Laneway Festival this past February after making their live Australian debut with last year’s Splendour In The Grass lineup, making it two for two for the nu-folkies for the 2013 edition.

They’re also headlining Adelaide’s Spin-Off Festival, topping a bill that features synthpop favourites Passion Pit, garage rockers FIDLAR, as well as a keen Australian selection in Chet Faker, Snakadaktal, The Jungle Giants, and Dune Rats; all playing Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre in a one-day festival extravaganza on 2nd August.

In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, lead guitarist Brynjar Leifsson spoke of how he and his bandmates are both overjoyed yet bewildered by the group’s rapid ascent, saying the reception is always “overwhelming; it’s nice to see so many people who want to help us and who appreciate what we are doing, it’s lots of fun and it is beautiful.”

Joining Of Monsters and Men on all Australian dates will be Mammals, the solo project of Guy Brown. Hailing from Sydney’s sunny Northern beaches, Guy began writing and recording as Mammals in 2011, producing music that walks effortlessly through the realms of folk, electronica and indie rock.

The debut Mammals single ‘Move Slower’ brought Guy to the attention of the good folk at Triple J who awarded him Unearthed “Artist Of The Week.” The win saw Guy perform at the 2013 Laneway Festival. Since then, ‘Move Slower’ has built more and more traction online and on stage with over 70,000 plays on SoundCloud. Mammals are currently in the studio working on their debut release and are set to hit the road again soon.

With their honeyed harmonies and the rousing ensemble of guitars and horns, these shows are set to see Australian fans fall even harder for Of Monsters and Men.
