Brisbane’s biggest little event for young people interested in the music industry has unveiled its 2013 program as LITTLE BIGSOUND gets set for a big day of panels and great music on Friday July 12.

QMusic, in conjunction with Youth Music Industries present Little BIGSOUND – a one-day forum for creative youth looking to work in and break into the music industry, all while seeing Brisbane’s hottest new bands in a unique conference and showcase experience.

This year’s lineup covers topics such as event and tour management, the science of songwriting, marketing and social media, photography and videos and career paths in what is one of the world’s most exciting, vibrant and changing industries.

Little BIGSOUND aims to build skills and provide young people aged 15-25 with information specifically targeted to kick-start their careers in the music industry. Featuring informative sessions and live performances run by young music industry professionals, attendees form connections and develop professional relationships.

Speakers include Zoe Davis (Cub Scouts), Kahl Wallace and Jindhu Lawrie (The Medics), Seja Vogel (Seja/Regurgitator), Sharna Krikku (Caloundra Music Festival), Mark Pico (Big Pineapple Festival), Dom Miller (Bluebeard Music), Chris O’Neill (APRA), Graham Ashton (BIGSOUND), Michelle Brown (4ZZZ) and Alex Barnes (Silver Screen Pictures) amongst others. Delegates will also be entertained by acoustic artists Weathered and Wafia with some more surprise musical guests to be announced shortly!

“Being able to work on and manage Little BIGSOUND has been really inspiring,” said programmer and QACI student Fionn Richards. “As a student who plans to work in the music industry I understand how important it is to have an event like Little BIGSOUND. I really appreciate the opportunities and insight into the industry which it provides and am looking forward for it becoming a reality on the 12th of July.”

Since its inaugural year in 2011, Little BIGSOUND continues to attract creative youth who participate in panels and breakout sessions covering everything from song writing to management and much more. With its big brother BIGSOUND already one of the biggest professional music industry events in the Southern Hemisphere, Little BIGSOUND is the perfect place for young people to begin their journey in the industry in a safe and friendly environment.

Little BIGSOUND runs from 9:00am to 6:00pm and is facilitated within The Edge, Southbank, one of the most popular upcoming venues specifically run for the youth.
