At the beginning of February this year, Melbourne producer Yeo released his latest LP, the cheekilytitled Sell Out. Since the drop, the release has been stirring underground musical scenes across Australia, garnering airplay from Triple J and a burst of new followers.

So the story goes, after digging deep into his bag of heart stuffing, Yeo rediscovered his love of making records, found a new voice and built a new hooklineand synthladen vehicle to carry it. Think James Blake’s intimate prism of future garage songcraft combined with the playful work ethic of Prince and Chet Faker’s blueeyed jams, seasoned with a lick of Pharrell Williams’ cocky colour.

For the stage, Yeo has reenlisted the talents of musicians John Barkley (keyboards/guitar) and Luke Brennan (drums/percussion), both being longtime members of the band that backed him when he supported Kimbra and Pigeon John. Together, these three friends translate the songs to the stage with great care, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere from which crackling flurries of electric jams artfully burst forth. Those who bear witness lose themselves in the comfort of this rhythmic, creamy aural soup.

Yeo and his funtime band will be bringing live heat to the eastern states in early July with a talented sidekick. EAVES, opening all shows, is a young producer from Canberra. Her slick samplehop skill has seen her warm up crowds for international artists such as Shigeto and Gold Panda, all whilst earning recognition and praise from the Triple J team.

With such great musical bookends, each show on the tour is sure to be an evening of fun for all.
