Following an exceptional run of shows with Rodriguez on his recent national tour, including a star turn at Bluesfest, those fine surf rock gentlemen of The Break have been busy donning their special issue tour space suits in readiness and travelling around the country for a series of live dates.

But the last date of their tour, in Sydney, has been positioned indefinitely “due to illness”. The band issued a statement about the cancellation earlier this afternoon.

“It is with sincere regret that The Break has had to postpone their live date scheduled for The Standard, Sydney this Saturday 22nd June,” read the statement.

“This situation has arisen due to a serious family illness. A new date will be advised in due course – all tickets will remain valid for this new date, or can be refunded via Moshtix. They apologise profusely to their fans for any inconvenience.”

The national tour was the band’s first headline shows in celebration of the release of their second album Space Farm taking them through Melbourne, Cairns, Darwin and Sydney, unleashing their unique blend of driving rhythm, reverbed guitars, trumpet and theremin.

Released mid-March, Space Farm has been embraced by fans and music critics alike. Featuring chants by The Gyuto Monks Of Tibet, various noises by the enigmatic Brian Ritchie, and a full vocal performance by Engelbert Humperdinck on a new version of his1967 B-Side ‘Ten Guitars’, it is truly a unique musical masterpiece.
