The Roots Cover Daft Punk & Mario Theme Song


The Roots are undoubtably the coolest late night house band around, and in the past they’ve contributed to some pretty stellar segments including Fallon’s take on the best TV show theme songs. Now, the group have covered ‘Get Lucky’ as ‘The Black Simon & Garfunkle’, which is as hilarious as it is harmonious. To top it off, Tariq, a member of the band also wrote and performed a rap to the theme of the Mario videogames.

Sub Pop Are Releasing A Line Of Shoes


Because nothing says rock ‘n’ roll like loafers, Sub Pop are releasing a special line of shoes to help celebrate their 25th year anniversary as a label.  In a partnership with TOMS, the limited edition shoes will feature  “The lace-up Paseo shoe in gray for men, and two versions of the slip-on Classic in navy for men and red for women, all with a unique Sub Pop design incorporated into the shoe,” reports Consequence Of Sound. These ridiculous accessories will be available online and at Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee festival which will feature performances by  Mudhoney, Greg Dulli, J Mascis, Father John Misty, and more.

Interactive Fingernail-Powered Gig Posters Now Exist


This is likely to be the coolest gig poster ever. As Creative Review states “the interactive poster – launched to promote DJ mixing app Slussen – is made of 3mm thick vinyl engraved with ridges that emit a sound like scratching a record when scratched with a fingernail.The combination of ridge patterns means different parts of the poster make different sounds, allowing users to make their own mixes using proper DJ techniques.”
