Celebrating its fifth year this October, the annual Sydney Blues & Roots Festival will again play host to an exceptional local & international line-up across four days.

Set in the historic township of Windsor NSW, from October 24 – 27 the Sydney Blues & Roots festival will provide music lovers with over 40 artists/bands to choose from. Pull up a patch of grass in front of the two main stages and enjoy the rhythmic grooves under the trees, or if it’s an intimate show you want, catch an act in one of the four surrounding local venues.

Announcing the rundown of acts on the bill for the October 2013 festival:

WILSON/DIESEL – Teaming up to perform their 1996 critically acclaimed Blues covers album Short Cool Ones in full, is legendary Melbourne Blues musician Chris Wilson and multiple ARIA Award winner Diesel.

ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Russell Morris performs tracks off his latest ARIA Top 20 Blues-inspired album, Sharkmouth, amongst classic hits such as Morris’ 1969 chart topper ‘The Real Thing’, ‘Somebody’s Image’, ‘Sweet Sweet Love’ and plenty more…

Following his national Solo & Select and Velvet Curtain tours, Diesel will no doubt be in fine form by the time he hits the stage. With 35 singles, 13 albums and close to 1 Million record sales under his belt, this guitar-toting singer/songwriter will have plenty of Rock, Soul ‘n’ Blues numbers to choose from.

If you fancy a bit of blues and soul look no further than Ash Grunwald, and no Blues & Roots Festival can go without a gun Blues and Slide guitarist, this being the renowned Mr DAVE HOLE.

Love a bit of Blues Harp? Chris Wilson is a master of this instrument and has performed with, and gained respect from, the likes of Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls, Diesel, Crowded House and many more… When the former Crown of Thorns front man hits the stage, with that huge voice & harp playing – Wilson commands the stage like no other.

On the international front, serving up some heartfelt Folk Blues, all the way from Minnesota is Charlie Parr. While another Charlie, Canadian Charlie A’Court returns to Oz to give us another dose of rootsy Soul. Also returning to the country to belt out some big rockin’ Blues numbers is Scottish singer/songwriter Sandy Thom, and following his recent tour with Diesel, you can expect some more melodic Folk/Pop from multiple Canadian Award winner & guitarist/fiddler extraordinaire Tim Chaisson.
