Snakadaktal recently announced the release date for their keenly-awaited debut LP Sleep In The Water – August 2.

Now, fans can rejoice over the news of tour dates shortly after, with the band set to undertake an extensive national tour throughout August and September. Kicking off on August 23, the tour will see Snakadaktal take their new soundscape to major metro and regional locations across the country.

The band’s new album – Sleep In The Water – is a sonic kaleidoscope of endlessly shifting sound, a bold new offering that highlights depths of talent hinted at in previous releases like ‘Air’, ‘Chimera’ and ‘Dance Bear’. Featuring 13 beguiling tracks, including album teaser ‘Ghost’ and the new single ‘Hung On Tight’, Sleep In The Water is a bit like reuniting with an old friend, a friend who’s sailed around the world to come home older and wiser. It is simultaneously ambitious yet tranquil, accomplished and otherworldly but still down-to-Earth.

The first official single from the album – ‘Hung On Tight’ – is released today. Along with ‘Ghost’, the two tracks offer a fine insight into the LP, with its masterful wordplay, pitch perfect harmonies and dreamy instrumentals.

The latter half of 2013 is shaping up to be a busy one for the band. There are performances at festivals including River Sessions in Mackay, Splendour In The Grass in Byron and Spinoff in Adelaide. There’s a tour with alt-J on the horizon and a show with Bernard Fanning in Far North Queensland.

Now, the band throw their own headline tour into the mix. The five friends have been polishing their new material live since the end of the year, drawing crowds both here and abroad, with performances at Meredith Music Festival, Laneway Festival and The Great Escape in the UK.

Tickets for the tour are on-sale June 28. There will be an option for fans to purchase digital album and ticket bundles until July 31.

Sleep In The Water is out August 2, with the first single ‘Hung On Tight’ available from today.
