Legendary Melbourne band The Fauves mark their 25th anniversary at the Corner Hotel on Saturday 31st August with a multimedia exploration of their two and a half decades as a band.

Playing material from all 11 of their albums as well as several EP’s, the band will intersperse the music with PowerPoint discussions of their history and the music industry in general, based on their extensive collection of memorabilia. Dark professional and personal secrets will be revealed and no audience question will go unanswered.

Rare video footage and never- before- heard demo recordings of their earliest material will complete a sumptuous audio-visual feast. Be early for Doctor’s Orders, a Fauves cover band who play only songs written by founding member Phil ‘Doctor’ Leonard.

The night will culminate with the live performance of The Fauves’ 10 most popular songs as voted by the listening public – a rare concession to paying customers whom the band otherwise view as “very rarely being right”.

The show will be less a celebration than a determined commitment to fulfilling a contract with their audi- ence: a contract of which the band has frequently been in breach. A self-indulgent descent into pedan- tic completism and blustering prolixity, the evening promises something for the devoted fan and the cas- ual observer alike.

The Fauves: Catch ‘Em While They’re Alive. The Cor- ner Hotel Richmond on Saturday 31st August. Sup- port : Doctor’s Orders. Tickets are $20 pre-order via the venue or $25 on the door if available. Go to www. cornerhotel.com for more details. Doors at 8.30pm.
