The full lineup for the Vans Warped Tour’s Australian return is scheduled to drop this Wednesday, as confirmed by Triple J’s Short.Fast.Loud program. But ahead of the reveal of the full list of bands playing Warped this November and December, courtesy of Soundwave and Harvest Festival boss AJ Maddah in collaboration with Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, the lineup is already beginning to leak.

Last week LA indie rock emos The Dangerous Summer told Aussie fans to expect some “news on July 10th”, the same day of the Vans Warped Tour lineup announcement, and now they’re joined by another act who have confirmed over their social media pages that they’ve got some special news for fans Down Under.

Melodic moshers For All Those Sleeping took to their Facebook and Twitter accounts to post of a “big announcement this coming Wednesday! 7/10/13.” Again coinciding rather suspiciously with the Warped Tour lineup drop.

An enterprising fan put the news to serial twitterer AJ Maddah that the cat was out of the bag for both acts, with the promoter replying seemingly unaware of the lineup leaks.

For All Those Sleeping released their second studio album, Outspoken, was released in June 2012, with Mike Champa – vocalist for the Minnesota quintet – saying the “record is a big ‘Fuck You’ to anyone that’s doubt what we are and what we are capable of,” on the band’s Fearless Records profile page.

“We were just fed up with a lot of things in our lives,” says guitarist/lyricist David Volgman-Stevens. “We were proud of our last record [2010’s Cross Your Fingers] and we’ve been having a blast touring, but we feel we’ve been holding a lot of stuff in; we figured we’d be honest with ourselves and through our music, to our fans. It’s just letting everything out and saying what we feel. It’s an unapologetic, angry, honest and emotional record. There was no other title really for this album but Outspoken.”

As for who else to expect on this Wedneysday’s Warped Tour lineup announcement besides For All Those Sleeping and The Dangerous Summer, Maddah has promised that “Warped will have lots of locals,” in contrast to Soundwave – which has previously drawn criticism for its international focus. The serial tweeting promoter has also remarked on the distinctions between the two events before; “Warped is about mayhem & DIY punk rock spirit. [Soundwave] is about delivering a slick & orchestrated day of performances.”

Whatever the final bill, Maddah has confirmed that a $99 ticket to the Vans Warped Tour will be the only chance to catch any of the lineup as there won’t be any sideshows for the festival, noting in a tweet to a fan query about possible sideshows: “not this year. I’d like to wait til we have re-established the festival in Aus 1st.”

The lineup for South America’s Vans Warped Festival for 2013 could give fans a hint of who to expect of Warped’s Aussie return. With The Used, Memphis May Fire, Reel Big Fish, and Black Veil Brides gracing the South American lineup in July/August this year.

An Australian leg for the Vans Warped Tour marks its first appearance Down Under in more than a decade. After first launching in 1995, Warped eventually made its way to Australia in January 1998 with a lineup that featured Pennywise, Frenzal Rhomb, Blink 182, The Living End, Bodyjar and more, but the punk festival has been absent from Australian shores since its last visit in 2002.
