Beginning in 2009, Sofar Sounds is named after its name to bring ‘songs for a room’, offering the unique opportunity to deliver intimate gigs in cozy living rooms, while fans get to enjoy a rare experience with their favourite artists. Having already presented shows in New York and Paris, Sofar Sounds is now headed Down Under.
Helping bring Sofar Sounds to Australia is Sydney singer-songwriter Brett Winterford who has been building buzz since the release of his latest release, The Greenthumb EP, which perfectly telegraphs Winterford’s homely credentials for the upcoming Sofar Sounds launch.
Headed to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, Brett Winterford will be opening all four shows, in which four bands perform a four-song set to a silent, intimate audience of lounge-bound audience members.
Playing and travelling everywhere, Winterford is reinventing the modern day troubadour, having spent years writing on the road while honing his craft by playing his folk-influenced tunes in unique venues like double-decker buses, river barges, ancient forts, bedrooms, corner pubs, and cafes – from Berlin to Brooklyn.
