After a successful launch in 2012, the Long Player Sessions is returning to the Brisbane Powerhouse’s Turbine Platform with a new 2013 programme that sees two Australian acts performing classic albums live, in their entirety from start to finish.

This year sees everything from the Pulp Fiction soundtrack to Jimi Hendrix and Portishead’s classic 1994 Dummy being tackled in three dual performances running on Friday 9th, 16th, and 23rd of August, 2013.

The Cheap Fakes and Tylea Goold will kickstart the Long Player Sessions 2013 programme on Friday 9th August, performing the Pulp Fiction and Twin Peaks soundtracks respectively.

The Cheap Fakes will bring their unique big band sound to brining Quentin Tarnantino’s eclectic 1994 soundtrack to life on stage. “Being such a classic and iconic album,” say the Brisbane five-piece, “we’ll be sure to stay true to the songs and treat them with respect but also want to add a bit of our own flavour as well and make the night a real spectacle!”

Meanwhile, local multi-instrumentalist Tylea Goold will do justice to Angelo Badalamenti’s jazz-inflected score for David Lynch’s warped TV series, Twin Peaks.

Queensland performer and Wilson Pickers favourite Danny Widdicombe will tackle Jimi Hendrix’s Axis: Bold As Love, bringing the 1967 double album to the stage thanks to a cast of musical friends on Friday 16th August, while The Black Crowes’ Southern Harmony Musical Companion will be performed by The Last Hotel – a collection of Queensland’s finest voices and musos, including Roz Pappalardo, Jackie Marshall, Deb Suckling, Jeff Lovejoy and more among their ranks.

The following Friday 23rd August sees 29-year-old Brisbanite Tara Simmons giving her rendition of trip-hop masterpiece Dummy by Portishead; “in my opinion,” says Simmons, “one of the most influential, inspired and quintessentially nineties albums you can come across.” Another 90s staple, PJ Harvey’s To Bring You My Love, will get a loving tribute from Brisbane band Charlie Horse.
