Having recently returned from an an extensive concert tour of Europe with his Italian-based ‘Fatalists’ project to rave reviews, Hug Race is bringing his Fatalists to Australia this September/October for a tour across the countryside in support of their latest album offering We Never Had Control.
Joining the tour party will be special international guests Sacri Couri – the self described ‘romantic villains’ who play ‘mostly instrumental music with a cinematic feel’. Apart from being amazing live, they have incredibly impressive credentials with appearances on their last album from Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian, Mark Lanegan), Marc Ribot (Tom Waits) as well as members from Calexico and Los Lobos.
A collaboration between the founding member of Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds and seminal Australian 80s cult band The Wreckery, Hugo Race’s Fatalists project is a collaboration with Antonio Gramentieri and Diego Sapignoli of Italian insturmental group Sacri Couri, crafting hypnotic and compelling listening. Acoustic instruments and subtle electronica fused with Race’s deep voice and song writing trace the scars of experience and sacrifice, set against intense soundscapes merging folk, experimentalism, electronica and rock. This tour is something not to be missed
Following on from his most recent album success, No But It’s True, Hugo Race will be showcasing songs from both albums including the forthcoming We Never Had Control. There’s a tasts of what to expect from the record, and the forthcoming tour in teh music video for lead single ‘Ghostwriter’ – shot by the Sicilian director Corrado Vasquez in Catania, Sicily.
