Electronic rock masterminds AWOLNATION will be performing an exclusive one off show at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory this August, presented by The Frontier Touring Company.

AWOLNATION was conceived in 2009 when frontman Aaron Bruno was approached by Red Bull Records who offered him free use of their studio. Inspired by complete creative freedom, Bruno recorded a few songs in the studio and ultimately signed with the label, calling it more of a ‘partnership’.

The final result was debut album Megalithic Symphony; a pulsating and epic exploration of sound that fuses everything from punk, rock, hip-hop and industrial and embodies a uniqueness that begins with the ambitious title and carries on throughout the 14-song collection.

First single ‘Sail’ (watch it here) has reached gold status here in Australia, peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard Alternative Chart and certified triple platinum in the US and quadruple platinum in Canada. A dark, infectious tale of angst with an unmistakable and unforgettable hook, ‘Sail’ in many ways was not a likely radio hit. In fact, Bruno is as surprised as anyone by the success of ‘Sail’.

“It has been charting and still climbing, but it was never intended to be a song that was on the radio. I think I just struck a nerve in people and caused a visceral reaction with the sort of the nursery rhyme aspect of the melody and how simple it is,” says Bruno.

When AWOLNATION takes the stage, it’s an explosion of instrumentation and technique and their live performances have garnered much praise across the globe.

In addition to burning up the stage, AWOLNATION have also become the go to band for evoking emotion on the screen with tracks being featured on Sons of Anarchy, The Good Wife, Iron Man 3, House, The Vampire Diaries and the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

For every real artist, the dream when they go into the studio is to make music that reaches people. Songs that strike a deep chord, resonate with audiences well after the track ends and come full circle when the band performs live in front of an audience. This is one of those bands. This is one those performances.
