The Pangaea Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, playing four headlines shows this August in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Sydney.

Raised in the West of England and now residing in North London via Leeds, Pangaea, aka Kevin McAuley, is one of the key producers and DJs in forward-thinking dance music. Although he made music from an early age, Pangaea was inspired to step up his productions after being exposed to the then-emerging sounds of dubstep in 2005.

He was involved in Leeds’ first dubstep night ‘Ruffage’ and then formed the Hessle Audio label with Pearson Sound and Ben UFO at the start of 2007, with the aim of releasing original music which wasn’t being represented elsewhere. Over four years later, and with a burgeoning discography containing releases by the likes of Untold, James Blake, Ramadanman and Pangaea himself, the label’s ethos remains the same.

Pangaea’s sound is hard to categorise and ever-shifting. Whilst house and techno influences are apparent, his music is firmly rooted in the traditions of UK bass music past and present. The same applies to his DJ sets, and he has performed throughout the UK, Europe, and in the US and Canada. 2013 will see Pangaea develop and explore his sound even further. Keep watching
