The Living End are set to headline Summernauts 27, with the Australian punk rock and psychobilly icons rocking the Main Stage at the Canberra based Street Machine Summernats, the largest horsepower festival in the Southern Hemisphere.
Following on from being announced as the headliners of the Queenscliff Music Festival 2013, The Living End will top the bill of the iconic Aussie car and music festival, which has previously featured acts like Hilltop Hoods, Rose Tattoo, The Screaming Jets, Drapht and Children Collide in recent years.
On the back of a highly successful Summernats 26 in January this year, which attracted over 100,000 avid car enthusiasts over four days, Summernats 27 is set to be bigger and better than ever.
“Rock’n’roll and tough cars have a lot in common, they both turn the adrenaline up to 11! We’re looking forward to bringing them together this summer in Canberra for the Summernats,” said Chris Cheney, lead singer and guitarist of The Living End.
The Living End has blazed their way into Australia’s rock history, with six albums and a string of top charting hits. With a unique trio format, The Living End has defined a generation, and with their ability to throw in a fancy fill, beer-frothin’ rockabilly lick or red hot bass run without breaking a sweat, they’re set to ignite the Summernats Main Stage in January 2014.
“We’re really pleased to have The Living End headlining Summernats 27,” said Summernats Co-owner Andy Lopez. “The Summernats is committed to featuring high profile Aussie music. We had an awesome Friday night with the Hilltop Hoods at Summernats 26, and The Living End continues that great standard.”
In an unexpected move, the Summernats organisers have also announced that they will be mixing things up at next year’s Summernats with an electronic DJ act headlining the Saturday night entertainment at the festival. Traditionally the Saturday night at Summernats has always featured classic rock acts.
“We’ve secured one of Australia’s best electronic DJ acts for Saturday night, and we’ll be releasing those details in September,” said Lopez, “and the best thing is we’re presenting these acts at no extra cost to our punters. Online ticket prices for Nats 27 are still the same price as they were two years ago at Nats 25. Not many festivals of any type can say that.”
