The Holidays Australian Tour 2013 Announce Dates, Tickets & Venues

The Holidays Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, and following on from the Sydney trio’s long-awaited return to the music scene with their new single ‘Voices Drifting’, and being named among Fat As Butter 2013 lineup, The Holidays have announced a series of East Coast dates.

Playing Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane this October, these dates mark The Holidays’ first headline performances for the year after releasing ‘Voices Drifting’, the first taste from the Sydney alt-pop adventurers much-anticipated second studio album and featured in a recent Tone Deaf mixtape.

“The jangly guitars might be toned down but the overlapping synth textures ensure that the song isn’t lacking in any pop essence,” wrote our Tone Deaf scribe of the new track. “Simon Jones’s vocals are also evidence of the band’s evolution. A combination of better production and maturation has allowed the lead singer to sound far more assured on ‘Voices Drifting’.”

The new album is due for release in early 2014 and was lovingly but painstakingly created over the past two years in apartments, studios and hotel rooms across Berlin, London, Melbourne, Paris and Tokyo. With the band describing it as “an opus of isolation and reconnection, a dreamlike state of zen, being alone in a city of millions, fast moving trains, closed eyes in a haze of warm fuzz and an overwhelming rush of blood to the eardrums.”

The Holidays’ debut LP Post Paradise won many accolades upon its release in 2010 and showing why the imminent release of their latest album is drumming up such buzz. Post Paradise took out the coveted Red Bull Award for Best Debut as part of 2011’s Australian Music Prize. It also scooped the award for Best Album at The Age’s annual EG Awards in 2010. Similarly, there were nominations for Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Independent Music Awards and for the AMP itself.

This East Coast run of shows will be the first chance to catch a taste of what The Holidays have been working so hard on in the live setting, as well as selections from Post Paradise.
