The Tumbleweed Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, with the Aussie fuzz rock specialists heading back on the road to help launch their first album since reforming in 2009, Sounds From the Other Side, due for release via Shock records on Friday 27th September.

The band have four special dates this August/September playing shows along the East Coast to deliver their latest slice of seminal rock, along with selections from their much loved back catalogue.

The 13 songs of Sounds From The Other Side were recorded at Sydney’s Rancom Studio over twelve hard-nosed days of heavy grooving and rock riffage, working with authentic analogue equipment and a spirited dedication towards their first new material in over 15 years, since the original lineup recorded together.

Recoded to twin inch tape with ARIA Award-winning producer Paul McKercher, the studio boffin that first helped capture the band’s unique take on fuzz-laced rock on Galactaphonic, and its breakout single ‘Daddy Long Legs’, way back in 1995.

The album was mixed over a 12 day period at the Central Coast’s idyllic Grove Studios in between recording and bushwalking. Sounds From The Other Sideincludes songs that have been kicking around since the old days and fresh tracks written after the band’s 2009 reunion. First single ‘Mountain’ is a fitting introduction to the album – a seven minute epic with that quintessential Tumbleweed sound, available via iTunes Monday July 29, 2013.

Forming in the early 90s, Tumbleweed dominated the Australian music landscape. With a string of EPs attracting international attention, it was a fairytale beginning for the band  – including signing with Atlantic Records USA for their debut album release, international tours with Mudhoney and The Lemonheads, a subsequent four LP releases and extensive Australian tours  – including an infamous 1992 support slot for Nirvana’s only Australian tour.

After the original line up disbanded in 1995 the chances of a reunion seemed slim, however Tumbleweed returned from the grave for a very special performance at 2009’s Homebake. Invitations to play Big Day Out (Sydney and Melbourne) and the Meredith Music Festival soon followed.

It’s been a long time coming, but now Tumbleweed are well and truly back – bringing with them Sounds From The Other Side – out 27th September via Shock Records.
