Six years in the making “The Long Time” is the debut album from critically acclaimed Australian composer & producer Elliott Wheeler and Baker Man is the first single from the upcoming album.

For the last year Wheeler has been working on the soundtrack for Baz Lurhmann’s The Great Gatsby, collaborating on material from all of the film’s artists, from Jay Z, Florence + the Machine, Lana Del Ray, Jack White, will.i.am, Bryan Ferry and his Jazz Orchestra, as well as providing original additional music for the film.

Wheeler studied composition and brass at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, his classical training and experience in film scoring adds an understandably cinematic feel to his debut LP. From the opening track, the album is dripping with a dark atmosphere.

“The Long Time” serves up an aural tasting plate, with sounds ranging from jazz to classical, pop to rock, blended with a unique combination of modern production techniques and nostalgic themes. A list of stunning female lead vocalists appear including Sydney electro folk darling, Caitlin Park, Melbourne based musician/ producer Sui Zhen, sultry genre crossing Loene Carmen, seminal Sydney musician Melodie Nelson and award winning jazz vocalist Kristin Berardi.

“The Long Time” will be available digitally and in stores from August 16th, through MGM distribution.
