The Vernons Australian Tour 2013 has been announced and the blues rock rollers release their single “Standing In Line” on iTunes on August 9th, ahead of an Australian East Coast tour to promote their debut EP, Volume I, released through MGM on September 6th 2013.

The Vernons’ own style of street mix delta blues and old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll is backed by their howling guitars and smokey rhythmic tones reminiscent of the bygone eras. Engineered by Yanto Browning (Kate Miller-Heidke, the Medics, Yves Klein Blue), their debut EP gives their fans and uninitiated alike, a taste of the heart-pumping belligerence and debauchery the band generates in their live performance.

the Vernons had their genesis in lead vocalist Jonny Nyst’s personal journey of self-discovery, busking and playing pub gigs around the UK at the tender age of 17. “Living below the poverty line, busking with true street musos and playing pub gigs underage (unbeknownst to the publicans of course) and getting paid in beer became the basis of my UK experience, and was the true beginning of my love for music and its powerful effect on people,” explains Nyst.

In early 2012 he was joined by three other UK music travellers on the same path, and together they formed The Vernons. Lead guitarist James Nikiforides, bassist Hugh Tait and drummer Elliot Gooch, brought a tight, rocking beat that perfectly complimented Jonny’s sometimes smooth, sometimes smokin’ vocals, producing a sound that evokes the rawness of early rock ‘n’ roll.

Since then The Vernons have raised many an eyebrow, establishing themselves as one of the up and coming acts with performances at Big Day Out 2013, supports for US Bluesman Seasick Steve, Grammy award-winning Wolfmother and shining stars The Rubens, and playing countless shows from Brisbane to Melbourne and back.

The Vernons will tour the East Coast with their first single and fans will be able to get an early taste of the EP, Volume I, being exclusively sold in physical form at their shows prior to the official international iTunes release on September 6th.
