The Maids Australian Tour 2013 has been announced as the band are set to release their self-titled debut EP.

This six track release presents Maids as one of the most intense, quirky and unique rock bands to rise into the Australian indie scene. The combination of Maids’ super heavy riffery and the out there weirdness of Vocalist/Drummer Sean Cook is an interesting pleasure. Don’t be shy with this EP, its so layered and deep – you need to get to know these guys.

The opening track – “Dr. Gecko” – provides a window into the half nonsense/half perfectionist world that Maids live in. Its ridiculous lyrics and vocal shenanigans are matched against some of the hardest hitting and well executed rock music the year has seen so far. The quirky and grungey attitude of “Dr. Gecko” is the foundation for the rest of the EP, and although the tone moves between heavy rock, psychedelic pop, and shoe gaze sludgyness, it is very apparent that Maids are onto something weird and new.

This outstanding debut effort mixes the precision of Karnivool, the attitude of Nirvana and the eccentric ways of Nick Cave, David Byrne and Ozzy Osbourne. Throw some drop B riffs into a bag with a crazy man, infinite hooks and structures that will make you think twice and you have your new favourite thing. Maids.

Based in Newcastle, Maids consists of Vocalist/Drummer – Sean Cook, Vocalist/Guitarist – Matthew James, Guitarist/Vocalist – Nathan Berryman, and Bass Player – Dylan Thomas. These four young gingerbread men are championing a fresh new version of indie rock.

The catch is that its heavy. Really heavy. But don’t be scared; Maids, along with producer Lindsay Gravina have created a product that is steaming with pop elements that create a friendly balance between heavy aggression and accessibility. This well crafted blend has landed them supports with Stonefield, Redcoats, The Delta Riggs, Palms, Bleeding Knees Club and Step-Panther, and allowed Maids to develop a mature live show that is bursting with charisma and uniqueness.

Maids will soon embark on a national tour to support their release. It is important that Maids be interpreted as a live band before anything else. Listen to this EP to prepare for the live show. It will entertain you!
