It’s not quite to the scale of Daft Punk taking over a regional NSW town, but Moby, one of the world’s most well-known electronic musicians, is planning on launching his star-studded new album, Innocents in Australia with an intimate one-night only performance.

Moby will perform a one-off DJ set in Sydney just days ahead of the Australian release of his 11th studio album, out September 27th. According to Perth Now, the high-profile vegan will be taking over Sydney club night Chinese Laundry on 19th September to showcase Innocents, with reports noting that there will be only 400 tickets available to the low key launch (details at bottom).

The DJ set will see Moby showcasing tracks from Innocents which features collaborations with The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne, the gravelly voiced QOTSA/Screaming Trees singer Mark Lanegan, indie folk luminary Damien Jurado, and Skylar Grey – the co-writer and performer on Eminem and Rihanna’s ‘Love the Way You Lie’ – among the record’s 12 tracks.

The album is led be lead single ‘A Case For Shame’, featuring Canadian singer-songwriter Cold Specks, and the tune’s cycling piano and intentionally dinky, syrupy strings have Moby’s distinctive touch, recalling his blockbuster Play album, which earned 12 million in album sales worldwide and made Moby a household name.

Innocents follows on from the artist born Henry Melville Hall’s 2011 album Destroyed and for the first time in his career found him working with an outside producer – his longtime friend, Grammy Award-winning producer Mark ‘Spike’ Stent, whose high profile CV includes work with some of music’s biggest and most respected names; including Madonna, U2, Muse, Coldplay, Björk, and Massive Attack.

“I spend most of my time alone in my studio, so for Innocents it seemed like a really nice idea to involve other people in the making of the record,” says Moby. “Working with all of these collaborators has helped me to make a record that I’m very proud of, and working this way also gave me some semblance of a social life.”

You can listen to ‘A Case For Shame’ below and view the tracklisting for Innocents , out through Warner Music Australia on 27th September, as well as the details for Moby’s one-off DJ set launching the album.
