The Steven Wilson Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, with the prolific progressive rock luminary bringing his stunning solo show for his latest opus, The Raven That Refused To Sing, to Australian audiences for the first time.

Best known as the frontman for Porcupine Tree, Wilson is widely regarded as one of the driving visionaries behind modern progressive rock and metal, with an enviable oeuvre that acclaimed as one of modern music’s most richly compelling bodies of work. Witnessing a Steven Wilson live performance is to be engulfed by mind-bending visuals and a bombastic aural surroundscape leaving audiences captivated and breathlessly longing for more.

Steven Wilson has a long list of accomplishments including performer with Blackfield, No-Man, Storm Corrosion (with Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt), Bass Communion and of course Porcupine Tree. On top of that, producer and mixer credits for Opeth, OSI, Fish, Orphaned Land, Ian Anderson, Marillion, Anathema; and surround re-mix for King Crimson, XTC, Jethro Tull, Caravan, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Hawkwind, and Yes.

The performances on the coming tour will primarily be comprised of material from Wilson’s acclaimed latest album (and of the UK’s biggest selling vinyl releases of the year)The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) plus selections from his previous solo albums Grace For Drowning and Insurgentes.

Accompanying Wilson will be a collective of world class calibre musicians; Guthrie Govan – lead guitar, Adam Holzman – keyboards, Theo Travis – flute & saxophone, Nick Beggs – bass guitar & Chapman Stick, Chad Wackerman – drums – the sound in the room will be delivered in four channel surround with isolated instruments bursting from every corner of the room – something no-one has attempted since Pink Floyd’s heyday.

Wilson was last in Australia with Porcupine Tree, touring in February 2010, making these three special headline dates the first visit in three years for Wilson and his first under his esteemed solo guise. Special VIP packages will also be available for the October shows, where diehard fans will get access to an exclusive Q&A session with Wilson and his band, as well as exclusive, signed tour merchandise and photo-ops.

Do not miss this rare Down Under performance from one of prog rock’s most influential and prolific musical figures.
