The Pond Australian Tour 2013 has been announced which sees the Perth-bred rock misfits heading around the country in support of Hobo Rocket, their fifth studio album in as many years.
This December the band will kickstart their latest national jaunt in Freo, before rocketing to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, the first time Pond have set out on a headline tour of the country since February.
Released around the world last month and created by Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joseph Ryan, Jamie Terry and Cam Avery, the band’s MO with Hobo Rocket was to capture the intensity and rawness of a Pond live show.
The album found the ratty psych-rockers “inject economy into their wild, witty wall of sound,” according to our Tone Deaf reviewer, who added: “If Tame Impala’s Lonerism was a love letter to a bygone era inked on fine parchment, Pond’s latest is like a hilarious skit about its greatest excesses scrawled on a napkin.”
Nick Allbrook describes the release as “…kind of mindset of finding our own little place in music, and being more of a functioning band, which is what makes it noisier and denser. This one we went as brutally hard as we would at a show. We wanted the songs to sound loose and live.”
The news of the Hobo Rocket Tour arrives as the brand new clip for album cut, ‘O Dharma’ is unveiled (watch below). Shot one afternoon at Lake Gwelup, the clip was created by pals at Krang Doogs, edited by Nathan Savage and filmed by Paul Kaminski. Using Super 8 film, the clip is part ethereal, part mind explosion and has some kind of Indian coloured dust thrown in for good measure.
Pond are already at work on putting together their sixth studio album, making this the only headline tour of Hobo Rocket, as next tim they hit the road it will be to deliver new material.
