Maybe it was because everyone was tied up with the Federal Election, or maybe it’s because they’re one of the most hated bands in the world, but a Australian visit from Limp Bizkit was confirmed over the weekend, and nobody seemed to notice.

The Fred Durst-fronted nu-metal group released a list of dates on their Facebook page on Saturday, detailing plans for an Australian tour this October (dates below) with a run of headline dates in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth along with links to ticket vendors.

While there was excitement shown by the Limp Bizkit faithful in the comments over the post, many more were also confused by the hyperlinks to ticket agents not showing any information for the October tour. Vendors like Ticketmaster, Ticketek, and OzTix have no Limp Bizkit listings on their website for the dates which take place in just over a month’s time.

There’s no mention of a concert promoter, on-sale information, or further details for the impending tour from the American five-piece, additionally there’s no mention of the tour on the band’s official website, which point to signs that the announcement perhaps went out a little underprepared.

In any case, the October tour will be Limp Bizkit’s first Australian tour since playing as part of the Soundwave 2012 lineup, which marked their first shows in Australia in 11 years, their last being their tragic turn at the 2001 Big Day Out in which Jessica Michalik was crushed in the crowd.

The new shows will likely feature material from Limp Bizkit’s troubled new studio album, Stampede Of The Disco Elephants, the band’s first album as part of Lil Wayne’s Cash Money Records roster that’s been rescheduled for release several times and is now slated for an early 2014 release.

The new record will follow on from the band’s ‘comeback’ 2011 record Gold Cobra, their first after their 2009 reunion when many assumed that they’d heard the last of the noughties rap-metal group – including Fred Durst, who as recently as August 2012 had admitted the band were “a moment in time and it’s over.” It seems things have since picked up for Durst (or he’s just put his shame in the back pocket) even as he and his cohorts are regularly listed in ‘Most Hated’ lists.

According to the Facebook post announcing the new Australian Tour (featuring Durst dressed as Thriller-era Michael Jackson and guitarist Wes Borland in one of his characteristically out-there costumes), tickets to the Limp Bizkit tour “will go FAST!” – assuming fans can eventually figure out where to purchase them and when.
