The Dave Matthews Band Bluesfest 2014 Sideshows have been announced, with very special guest Gary Clark Jr joining the band for their headline sideshows.

One of America’s most successful musical groups, the Dave Matthews Band will showcase their original sound and grassroots attitude in two headlines shows to complement their appearance as headliners of Bluesfest’s 25th Silver Anniversary Edition.

Performing at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on April 15 and at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on April 17, Dave Matthews Band (DMB) will be joined by special guest, acclaimed blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr.

After forming in 1991 DMB released their debut record Remember Two Things, a collection of live and studio tracks. By the time the band had released follow-up records 1994′s Under the Table and Dreaming and Crash, DMB were an international success, culminating in the first of many Grammy awards in 1996.

DMB’s career now spans more than two decades, eight studio albums, eleven major label released live albums, contributing to enormous combined sales exceeding 37 million CDs and DVDs collectively, and ticket sales of reportedly more than 18 million since their inception.

The group’s unwavering commitment to touring has maintained their reputation as one of the most revered bands on the world stage, typified by improvisational renditions of their songs and jaw dropping musicianship, building a fiercely loyal following who continue to support the band with unfaltering conviction; Australian audiences being no exception.

Touring in support of their latest album Away from the World, the record entered the Billboard 200 at #1, earning DMB a place in music history as the only band to achieve this feat with six consecutive albums. Dave Matthews Band is: drummer Carter Beauford, bass guitarist Stefan Lessard, violinist Boyd Tinsley and Dave Matthews on guitar and lead vocals.

Undeniably talented singer, songwriter and blues guitarist extraordinaire, Gary Clark Jr. will be special guest at DMB’s Sydney and Melbourne headline shows.

After releasing his acclaimed album Blak and Blu at the end of 2012, the list of industry fans this multi-talented phenomenon has amassed is intimidating to say the least. From collaborating with Nas, Alicia Keys and The Roots; to being invited to join The Rolling Stones on stage in NY; handpicked by Eric Clapton to perform at his Crossroads Festival; and the only artist asked to play both nights of Jay Z’s Made in America Festival – all within the first 12 months of his career.

The enormous respect afforded to Clark by his peers has been matched by critical acclaim with The New York Times stating Clark “may be the next Hendrix.”
