Simple Plan have been announce as the first Warped Tour 2013 sideshow, with the Frontier Touring Company confirming that the pop-punk maestros are heading to Perth for an exclusive one-off headline performance.

Simple Plan will be playing Challenge Stadium this December, giving the Western Australian capital a dose of the Vans Warped Tour 2013 lineup alongside special guests Tonight Alive.

Simple Plan missed out on performing for their devoted WA fans last time they were in Oz and are determined to make sure that doesn’t happen again with this one and only headline show.

Simple Plan’s place in the Vans Warped Tour line-up is something of a legacy, having hit the road with the alternative festival for the first time in 2001 after making a name for themselves in their two years together as the pop punk band with as much talent as they had swagger.

Drawing from their esteemed catalogue – including 2002’s breakthrough debut album No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls, tis 2004 follow-up Still Not Getting Any…, and their acclaimed self-titled third album from 2008 – Simple Plan have exemplified the kind of work ethic that heralds a long spanning career. They’ve played no less than three hundred shows in the year of their debut release including performances alongside fellow punk royalty Green Day and Good Charlotte.

Their most recent offering Get Your Heart On! (out now through Warner Music Australia) is a bombastic tour-de-force of energy that harkens back to their debut. Featuring appearances from Rivers Cuomo, Natasha Bedingfield, and All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth, Get Your Heart On! is choc-full of bangers including the infectious ARIA Top 10 single ‘Jetlag’.

Joining Simple Plan as special guest are Sydney’s own pop punk five-piece Tonight Alive, who have become a beacon of talent in Australia and overseas, with US rock radio station KROQ listing Tonight Alive as one of the top 10 Australian bands of all time, with their second album The Other Side was released in September to some serious acclaim.

The band have previously shared the stage with a veritable who’s who of rock such as All Time Low, The Getaway Plan, New Found Glory and of course Simple Plan, making this a reunion that cannot be missed.

Demonstrating the kind of depth and integrity that Simple Plan have become known for, $1 from every ticket sold will go to the Simple Plan Foundation, helping young people in need by easing their often difficult passage to adulthood and supporting the victims of life threatening illnesses. The band says of the impressive initiative;

“We’ve had the great opportunity of touring the world and meeting all sorts of kids from places far and wide. We’ve also had to see the harsh realities of children living in war torn areas around the world: children who are living in poverty, who are forced into armies, and are suffering from the after effects of war. We believe every child deserves a happy childhood. We hope our foundation will be a global foundation that will give back to the world community of children and help them deal with their own personal daily struggles. If we can bring a few smiles to these children, we know that would make a world of difference”.

Simple Plan’s exclusive headline performance is a unique opportunity to see a band looking both retrospectively and forward. With a catalogue of contemporary classics, skilful execution and tons of style, the plan IS simple. Make sure you don’t miss your chance to see their only Perth performance this December!
