Clearly there’s a need for a voice resembling a bullfrog’s croak – which has had more booze, speed, ciggies and errr … lady juice poured down it than the population of small South American countries. And that was just on a brief two week tour back in 1979. You see, Motörhead frontman and lord of excess, Lemmy Kilmister, has been signed up to narrate a documentary about dirtbike legend Larry Linkogle.  Yes, we initially struggled to see the point as well.  The presser for the doco tells us: ‘Mind Of The Demon: The Larry Linkogle Story is a dark, analytical look into the psyche of one of the most talented, yet aggressively self-destructive minds of our generation.

‘Larry Linkogle is a world-record holding dirt-bike legend, who fought to help kick-start the freestyle motocross revolution. But as the sport gained unexpected fame so did Larry’s battles with his inner demons, and he slowly spiraled out of control — lost to drugs and violence.

‘Incredible archival footage, colorful characters and interviews with all of the industry’s top names rebuild the thrilling story of the birth of freestyle motocross, and the gritty demise of the sport’s most infamous legend.

‘Past and present story lines creatively intertwine to drive the film toward one of only two possible conclusions: a nosedive straight into a black hole or one of the most unlikely inspirational comeback stories of all time.’

Hmmmmmmm. The only real connection we can see between Lemmy and Larry is the word speed. Maybe that was enough to get the deal across the line. Pun intended.

Check out the dulcet tones of Lemmy singing Ace of Spades live and join us in wondering why his opera career never got off the ground.
