A DJ Shadow Australian Tour 2014 has been announced arriving in the country to perform to his Down Under faithful after being announced as part of the Perth Festival for 2014.

There are few DJs who stand the test of time through their innovative ways of music productions. Esteemed international DJ and producer, DJ Shadow, continues to set standards falling into the exception rather than the rule in today’s electronic music frenzy.

He will journey to Australia and New Zealand in February 2014 with his renowned worldwide ‘All Bases Covered’ tour, with the shows promising to be smaller, stripped-back and more intimate DJ sets.

In 2014, ‘All Basses Covered’ will incorporate DJ Shadow’s unreleased productions and live remixes. These sets are designed for dedicated fans; focusing on the music and journey, rather than how big the production.

Audiences will see him switching from playing on drum pads to digital software and Pioneer CDJs. As a 28-year veteran of the electronic music scene, he credits his staying power to knowing when and how to adapt, but still remaining true to his old-school hip-hop and disc jockey roots.

With a boom of electronic acts flooding the market, we find EDM falling deeper into commercialism and the scene becoming more about money, image and quantity. DJ Shadow stands for a better tomorrow in the world of dance music, continuing to champion quality DJ, mixing and production skills.

DJ Shadow is widely credited as a key figure in developing the experimental instrumental hip hop style. Inspired by early hip-hop, he grew up to the likes of Eric B. & Rakim, Ultramagnetic MCs and Public Enemy; groups which prominently featured DJs in their ranks. Shadow began making beats and breaks on a four-track recorder in high school. Hooking up with various b-boys during college years (which later included Blackalicious and Lyrics Born) his tracks spread widely through the DJ-strong hip hop underground.

Since then, he’s gone on to release a slew of records the groundbreaking Entroducing… (1996), The Private Press (2002), The Outsider (2006) and most recently The Less You Know, The Better (2011).

He’s also produced tracks for U.N.K.L.E, released a mix album Diminising Returns, a live album/DVD (2004) and three volumes of his earlier recordings The 4-Track Era Collection (2007-2009).

DJ Shadow has collaborated with the likes of Cut Chemist fusing soul, funk and rock. In 1999 he was part of the renowned Quannum Projects.Witness the legend himself when he tours Australia & New Zealand.

The tour will display a whole new take on DJ Shadow’s typical mixing style, while still throwing down his distinctive sound that brings people of all different musical tastes and backgrounds together to enjoy.
